The Zumárraga‑based company Rozalma is celebrating its 100th anniversary, marking a century of evolution that has transformed it into a fully robotized operation, completely aligned with the quality and efficiency standards required by today’s industry. With a long history and a renewed technological focus, Rozalma has become a global benchmark in the manufacturing of agricultural tines.
A complete modernization that marked a turning point
Between 2016 and 2017, Rozalma underwent a major strategic investment that led to a total modernization of the plant. This transformation included the redesign of all processes under the Lean management philosophy and the full automation of tine manufacturing.
Today, Rozalma boasts the most advanced technology and robotization in the sector, positioning it as a world leader in its field. From its facilities in Zumárraga, the company supplies the world’s leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, who rely on its tines for soil preparation.
According to Eduardo Urrestarazu, Managing Director of Agrisolutions for Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America:
“Rozalma has always been recognized in the sector for producing top‑quality products that meet customers’ needs and specifications. As part of our strategy at Agrisolutions, we have specialized the Zumárraga plant in the production of high‑quality agricultural tines, incorporating the Bellota tine range from Legazpi into the traditional flexible steel product line. Today we can proudly say that the work of many years has transformed this centenary company into the global reference for this type of product.”
A century of history: from springs to high‑specialization
Rozalma —a name formed from the initials of three of its founders: Rojo, Zaldua and Mallea— was founded in 1924 by six partners: Juan Zaldua, Francisco Rojo, Aniceto Mallea, Esteban Jauregi, Juan Yurrita and Nazario Osoro.
The company initially manufactured springs and leaf springs for all types of vehicles, but its deep understanding of steel soon led it to specialize in flexible tines and springs, laying the foundation for the highly specialized operation it is today.
Since 2007, Rozalma has been located in the Argixao Industrial Park in Zumárraga, employing more than 50 people in a plant that is highly automated and committed to excellence and innovation.
